About

The Building Material Thrift Store originally had its' beginnings in 2000 under the guidance and mindfulness of a local contractor Bruce Tidwell.  He saw first hand how many building materials were making their way to the Ohio Gulch Transfer Station's C&D lot and still had at least 50% life left.  His humble beginnings of a store started in a storage unit located in Hailey and grew to a 10,000 sq. foot building in south Woodside, saving thousands of items from going to landfill and donated thousands of dollars to help save open space.

Though that particular operation which benefitted the Wood River Land Trust, did finally close it's doors in late 2019/early 2020, the concept was revitalized again in Fall 2020 (Year of COVID even!) by the Executive Director of  The Crisis Hotline Tammy Davis and her best friend/business partner Sterling Davis!

The Mission continues to be served with the benefits going to the Crisis Hotline and similar programs that enhance the social and emotional health of our local communities, ie, 5B Suicide Alliance, Wood River Seed Library,  I Have a Dream Foundation, local Fire & Police Departments, etc.

We are lucky to support such a worthy cause, especially at this time since COVID and with the rise in awareness of normalizing conversations over our mental health.

Thank you for allowing us to serve!
